The Soundtrack of My Life: Finding Connection Through "Your Name"
#24 Son of a Viet Kieu | How a Beautiful Movie and Its Music Mirror My Own Love Story and Long-Distance Journey
Hey! I am so grateful to have you back at my blog. Your subscription means the world to me. ❤️ In order to get to know you better, here is a question for you: “What is your favorite song?” 😊
Now jumping into today’s blog:
I am writing my 24th blog of the #WOTN6 challenge. This time, I want to answer a prompt from the organizers:
”What music/song is the “soundtrack” for your life?” 🎶
This reminded me of a stand-up comedian who had a chat with someone in the audience. Since the guest had loads of tattoos on his arm, the comedian asked what his favorite one was.
After thinking carefully, he answered: “This Spotify code.”
It turns out, you can link a Spotify sound to a unique QR code that looks more like a sound wave. After the comedian scanned the soundwave, Spotify immediately played the song.
Fast forward to today, I am sitting in my room, writing the 24th blog of the challenge, and thinking about:
Which song would I choose? 🤔
Which sound wave would I tattoo on my arm? 🎵
Which song is the most meaningful one? ❤️
I would choose this one:
*open Spotify on your phone and scan the code with the camera icon
Why this song?
It is from the original soundtrack of “Your Name.” Not only was this movie one of the first movies that I watched with my wife, but it is also one of the most beautiful movies I have ever watched. 🎥✨
Here's a short summary:
"Your Name" (君の名は。) is a 2016 Japanese animated romantic fantasy film directed by Makoto Shinkai. It tells the story of two high school students, Mitsuha Miyamizu, a girl from a rural town, and Taki Tachibana, a boy from Tokyo, who suddenly and inexplicably begin to swap bodies. As they experience life from each other's perspectives, they leave messages to communicate and develop a deep bond. The plot thickens as they discover that they are separated not just by distance but also by time, and a catastrophic event threatens Mitsuha's town. The film explores themes of fate, love, and connection, culminating in the characters' desperate efforts to find and save each other. "Your Name" is praised for its stunning animation, compelling storyline, and emotional impact. 🌠💖
The animation and the soundtrack give me goosebumps to this day. Since the movie is about two students dealing with life in Japan, it combines Asian culture with a Western lifestyle.
Their story about how they found each other, despite the geographic distances, reminds me of the five-year long-distance relationship that I had with my wife.
Similar to the movie, there are challenges in a long-distance relationship. Luckily, my wife moved to Vietnam and everything worked out. ❤️🏡
This song and movie remind me that you can overcome challenges during any relationship. Even if you get separated or lost, if you put in the effort to truly understand your partner, you will build up trust and a connection that will be unbreakable.
Thanks for reading to the end and I wish you an awesome day full of kindness and positivity. See you next Sunday morning for a new blog of #sonofavietkieu. 🥰
